It refers to a range of volatile and flammable liquids produced by the distillation of petroleum. The liquids, which differ slightly in their chemical structures and boiling points, have various applications in the refining process.
It is the main one as a base material for the production of high-grade gasoline and olefins manufacturing by the petrochemical industry.
Factories use naphtha as their most common raw material for the production of plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene. Different naphtha chemicals are also used as raw materials for the production of petrochemicals including butane and gasoline. The energy sector uses millions of tons of naphtha per year and breaks it down into easier-to-use chemicals through a process called steam cracking.
Petroleum naphtha can be used as a solvent. It can be found in various cleaning agents and is also used as a dilution agent for paints, varnish and asphalt. Dry-cleaning businesses use naphtha in their operations as well.
Each year we supply our naphtha customers, which include refiners, petrochemical companies and other industries, with around 1 million tons of product. We lift product from all producing regions including the Middle East, India, Russia and Africa, and supply petrochemical companies in Far East Asia, Europe and North and South America.
We’ve achieved this using our extensive storage and shipping assets accompanied with our expertise.
